As Valentine’s Day reminds us, every lasting relationship is built on one essential foundation, trust. Whether between people or organisations, trust takes time to earn and seconds to lose.
In today’s digital world, data is deeply personal. Every detail, from a name to browsing history, represents someone placing their confidence in you to use their information responsibly and transparently. One of the clearest expressions of that trust in action is how an organisation handles Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
When an individual exercises their right to know what information a Data Controller holds about them and how it is processed, their request is more than a compliance obligation, it’s a moment that tests your organisation’s integrity. When organisations respond late, vaguely, or defensively, they erode trust quickly.
“A DSAR isn’t just a legal process, it’s a reflection of trust. When we handle and process personal data, we handle a part of someone’s identity. Valentine’s Day reminds us that meaningful relationships depend on openness and respect, and data protection is no different.” - Matt Bruce, Managing Director
We see data protection and cyber security as an act of respect, an organisation’s commitment to the individuals and organisations who entrust them with their most valuable and sensitive information. A strong relationship between businesses and their clients/ customers/ or supporters thrives on transparency, reliability, and the assurance that their personal data is in “safe hands”. So, this Valentine’s Day, while messages of love fill the air, take a moment to reflect on how your organisation shows love through trust: keeping data safe, respecting privacy, and protecting the people behind the information.
Because in every great partnership, personal or professional, trust is at the heart of it all. ❤️🔐
