Cyber Essentials is an affordable UK Government backed certification scheme administered by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) that will help you to protect your organisation, whatever its size, against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks and threats.
By becoming certified and Cyber Essentials compliant, not only could your organisation apply for some Government contracts, but also prevent yourselves from being vulnerable to the simplest of attacks, which could mark your organisation as a candidate for more in-depth and specific forms of attacks. Certification lasts 12 months with your organisation having to renew annually to ensure ongoing compliance.
* Free Cyber Insurance available to UK Companies with a turnover of less than £20M
** Support limited to ½ day via telephone, email or video conferencing. Additional days can be purchased at our standard day rate.
This effectively creates a ‘buffer zone’ between your IT network and other external networks.
The default settings on software can provide cyber attackers with opportunities to gain unauthorised access to your data, often with ease.
Staff accounts should have just enough access to software, settings, online services and device connectivity functions for them to perform their role.
The use of Anti-Malware measures such as Windows Defender, Allowed List and Sandboxing can prevent Malware. You’ll need to implement at least one approach to achieve the certification.
Also known as ‘Patching’. Developers release regular updates which fix any security vulnerabilities that have been discovered. Applying these updates promptly is one of the most important things you can do to improve security.
The #1 risk for business is cyber. In the past year, security strategies and practices have been tested like no other. Rapidly accelerated digital transformations, opportunistic phishing campaigns, discontinuity of information security operations and financial constraints are creating the perfect storm in a COVID-19-disrupted world.
Cyber criminals never take a break and as the threat landscape continues to evolve, cyber security grows both more mission critical and complex to manage. Business Leaders who understand these challenges and can pivot their security approach, become Cyber Essentials Certified and can help their organisation to become stronger and more resilient.
Through gaining Cyber Essentials certification, organisations with an annual turnover of less than £20M can opt-in to receive free cyber security insurance by filling in six questions included as part of the Cyber Essentials application process. Not only will your organisation be Cyber Essentials certified, but have access to cyber insurance in the unfortunate event your organisation needs it.
